The freshman led all local runners in the girls race and finished in 19:15.55, just a fraction of a second behind Erin Robinson of Gunn (Calif.). Grossman nearly won despite a canceled flight from Maui that set her back. The meet was delayed 10 minutes to accommodate her later flight, but she had no time to warm up.
