Maui police announce methamphetamine bust
WAILUKU, Maui — Maui police say they’ve seized $86,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine along with marijuana, cash and four vehicles.
Capt. Gerald Matsunaga, commander of the vice division, said Monday that 46-year-old Tracy Ibara of Pukalani was found with more than 10 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, more than a half-ounce of marijuana and $8,380 in cash.
The Maui News reported Tuesday that police valued the crystal methamphetamine at $150 per half-gram.
The drug bust is Maui’s second-largest this month.
Police also had seized 4.6 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in Haiku with an estimated value of $627,000.
In that case, two men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of multiple drug offenses.
Police say the drug busts aren’t related.
