Game bird hunting opens

The fall game bird hunting seasons opens tomorrow and runs through Jan. 17. Legal hunting days are Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays.

Game bird stamps and fees have been waived. Only a valid hunting license is required while hunting on public and private land.

Pool event features ‘Black Widow’

Jeanette "The Black Widow" Lee will put on a pool exhibition Nov. 13 at Pipeline Cafe in Honolulu.

Fun runs to benefit Kailua High

The annual Friends of Kailua High School benefit 5- and 10-K run/walk is set for Nov. 14 in front of the school’s gym.

The event begins at 7 a.m. Fees are $25, including a T-shirt; $15 without a T-shirt; $15 for a T-shirt.

Applications are available at Kailua High, by e-mailing the school at edracers@aol.com, or online at Active.com. Packet pick-up and late registration is from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Kailua Running Company, or 6-6:30 a.m. race morning at the school.

XTERRA championship at Kualoa

More than 1,000 runners from around the world, including two-time defending men’s champion Max King of Oregon, are expected to compete at the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship on Dec. 5 at Kualoa Ranch.

Elite runners will vie for the $10,000 purse over a 21-kilometer course, while novice runners can choose from a 10K or 5K course. Entry forms and online registration are available at www.xterraplanet.com/xduro/championship.html.

A portion of each entry fee will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation-Hawaii Chapter (JDRFhawaii.org).
