BELLA PROJECT
The Bella Project provides dresses and accessories to high school students who are unable to purchase their own prom attire.

The Bella Project will present "Rule the Runway" from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at The Venue in Chinatown.

The fundraiser will feature a "Project Runway"-style fashion show by local designers who had a month to put their own spin on out-of-date prom dresses, transforming them into contemporary dresses teens would want to wear.

The dresses will be judged by "Project Runway" finalist Andy South, designer Roberta Oaks and me, and the winner will be rewarded with a trip to the neighbor islands.

Tickets to the 18-and-older event are $25 general ($30 at the door) and $75 for VIP. The Venue (formerly rRed Elephant ) is at 1144 Bethel St.

The Bella Project is a Hawaii-based nonprofit organization that promotes self-confidence, individual beauty and diversity among teenage girls. It provides formal dresses and accessories to high school students who are unable to purchase their own prom attire. Dresses and accessories are collected throughout the year and made available to students in the early spring.
