Are things looking up in Waikiki? After the summer demise of the Royal Hawaiian Center showroom, aka Level 4, there’s fresh buzz that a Las Vegas impersonators production of "Legends," with look- and sound-alike Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and other iconic popsters, is destined to occupy the space. Sounds like deja vu, since "Legends in Concert" once was the main attraction in the exact space before it was redesigned and relaunched two years ago with the ambitious but shuttered "Waikiki Nei" show. …

No one’s saying much about another project destined for the banquet room of the Pacific Beach Hotel, but Patrick Moon‘s name has surfaced as one of the producers. …

And a show called "In the Mood," with singers and musicians with Utah origins performing 1940s big-band tunes, is supposedly heading to the basement space at the Waikiki Marriott. …

THE LOCAL ANGLE: With the release of his "Willie Wonderland" CD, singer Willie K will hold a CD release party-concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Don Ho’s Island Grill, harborside at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The disc features "Ave Maria" along with a duet with Lehua Kalima on "Baby, It’s Cold Outside." Tickets: $45 for show and buffet dinner, and entry from 5 p.m., or $25 (entry at 7 p.m.). And Willie K is at the helm, replacing Raiatea Helm, of Hawaiian Host’s Christmas macadamia nut medley this season, offering sweets with songs. Three of the four tracks, including "Ave Maria" and the bonus "Once for the Troops," are on the "Wonderland" CD. …

Crooner Elika Santos of the Society of Seven dedicated "Nessun Dorma," the aria from "Turandot," to the late Gary Bautista, whose slot Santos now fills, because the SOS’s closing night Nov. 6 at the Outrigger Waikiki showroom coincided with Bautista’s birthday. The Tony Ruivivar-led SOS next performs Friday at the Suncoast showroom in Las Vegas; ex-local boy Martin Nievera follows there Dec. 10 through 12. At the Outrigger, the SOS LV has reclaimed the spotlight. …

TUNING UP: Prolific singer-composer Keith Haugen, who performed with wife Carmen at a Kidney Foundation of Hawaii-sponsored concert recently at Mission Memorial Music, capped the show with a new composition, "I Love My Kidneys," which the foundation’s CEO, Glenn Hayashida, said will surely be used in the nonprofit’s campaign. …

Speaking of songs: Frank De Lima and collaborator Patrick Downes did an election-related parody titled "Signs, Signs, Signs" (sung to the tune of The Byrds‘ folk hit, "Turn, Turn, Turn"), though its arrival was a wee bit late. Among the lines: "On each bloody sidewalk, signs, signs, signs; plastered on fences, signs, signs, signs; and five balloon signs for Brando’s baby luau." Now, if these can be removed from public places. …

TRAVEL LOG: Maui foodie and publicist Bonnie Friedman is back from yet another New York trek, and encountered chefs galore, like the tattooed Nate Appleman at his Lower East Side eatery Pulino. When she returned home, she learned that he’s "formerly of" Pulino. …

Friedman spotted a smiling, handsome Todd English at the Food Hall of the Plaza Hotel, but observed: "Wear a chef’s coat, dude, not a sports jacket." …

At Hearth, Marco Canora‘s East Village restaurant, she was charmed by his manner and culinary skills — no wonder he’s been competing on the Food Network’s current "Next Iron Chef" competition. …
