Health officials strategize against tobacco

Hawaii health officials are holding a conference today about how to reduce tobacco use in the islands.

The conference includes discussions on responses to how the tobacco industry has changed its marketing.

The Hawaii Department of Health, which is sponsoring the conference, said anti-smoking advocates will consider their priorities as the state tobacco prevention and control plan for the next five years is developed.

Speakers at the conference include Tim McAfee, director for the Office on Smoking and Health at the CDC, and Gar Mahood, director for the Non-Smokers Rights Association of Canada.
