Woman arrested in friend’s stabbing

Police arrested a 62-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her friend and housemate, a 50-year-old woman, multiple times yesterday afternoon in Mililani.

Police said the two women had been drinking while both were riding in the back seat of a car on their way home from the store when an argument occurred. The older woman got upset and allegedly began stabbing the younger woman with a small folding pocketknife, police said.

Paramedics responded to a 3:06 p.m. call at Wailawa Street. The victim was taken to a trauma center in serious condition with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds, said Bryan Cheplic, city Emergency Services Department spokesman.

Police arrested the suspect at the women’s Mililani home at 3:15 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

The older woman had been found guilty Sept. 28, 2009, of second-degree terroristic threatening, a misdemeanor, and two counts of third-degree promoting dangerous drugs in 1991.
