Ag board meeting set

The state Department of Agriculture will hold a public meeting at 1:30 today at the Plant Quarantine Branch, 1849 Auiki St., to consider establishing quarantine zones on the Big Island to prevent the spread of the destructive coffee berry borer. The Advisory Committee on Plants and Animals will gather testimony about a proposal to prohibit the importation of green coffee beans.

Pools to close for training

Kauai County officials announced that the Kapaa swimming pool will be closed Dec. 2, and the Waimea pool will be closed Dec. 3 to allow the Kauai Fire Department to conduct training.

The Kapaa pool would normally be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2.

The Waimea pool would normally be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
