T&C Surf tips hat to local fashion designer

T&C Surf continues its push to include local designers in its mix with major youth and surf brands, and recently added MachineMachine’s hand-stitched hats to its racks, with women’s wear to follow at its Ala Moana and Pearlridge locations.

The line created by local designer Shannon Hiramoto incorporates vintage and patchwork fabric, crochet and afghan pieces, so no two are exactly alike.

Hiramoto said she started by making one hat last summer as a birthday gift for a friend, but it proved so popular she’s been making them ever since, in styles for men, women and children.

Hawaii Fashion Incubator plans launch party

Be the first to nab Hawaii Fashion Incubator (Hifi’s) 2011 T-shirts and bags, designed by Sierra Dew, during the T-shirt launch party and Hifi fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Andy South’s studio.

In addition to picking up the new T-shirt design, there will be pop-up shops by Sierra Dew, HI State of Mind and Umee, a sushi bar by Primo Sushi and Little Black Dress wines.

Funds raised will help toward creating a physical fashion incubator for Hawaii. The studio is on the third floor of Pacific Gateway Center, 83 N. King St., with an entrance on Smith Street.

Jeweler’s sale to benefit JCCH

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and Couture Jeweller have partnered to benefit the community, just in time for the holidays.

Couture Jeweller will donate 10 percent of every purchase from its exclusive, limited-edition Roberto Coin Fiore collection to JCCH, on sales that take place through Dec. 31.

The Italian jeweler created the Fiore collection to celebrate the beauty of nature. Each piece is handcrafted in Italy in 18-karat yellow gold, with a center of Roberto Coin’s exclusive hand-cut, 100-faceted, Cento-cut diamond to complete the flower pattern.

Each piece also includes Coin’s signature ruby gracing the back of pieces, as a secret gift of good wishes and happiness for every wearer.

There will also be a gift with purchase while supplies last.

Funds raised from sales will go toward supporting the nonprofit JCCH’s mission of sharing the history, heritage and culture of the evolving Japanese-American experience in Hawaii.

Couture Jeweller (formerly Elle Couture Jeweller) is at 909 Kapiolani Blvd. Call 591-8080.
