LYNNE WATERS lives in Kahaluu, where the closest town is Kaneohe. She said she’s known for years there was local woman living in the Kaneohe area named Lyn Waters. "We’ve haunted each other’s lives, gotten our dry cleaning mixed up, our Longs pharmacy prescriptions mixed up," Lynne said. "You name it. I’ve even received her catalog orders by mistake once or twice. So I always thought, ‘I gotta meet this long-suffering lady someday.’" 

Moving on, Lynne helped her good friend Keith Kaneshiro in his recent campaign for prosecutor, and after his victory he asked her to head up communications/public affairs for him. "I gave it a lot of hard thought, as I am loathe to surrender my own autonomy and my consulting biz, but I decided I am going to give it a shot," she said. "Never too late to learn something new, right? And guess who I meet my first day on the job. Lyn Waters!" Lyn works in the prosecutor’s office. "We both had a good laugh, hugged and exchanged stories of getting each other’s stuff over the years." Needless to say, it’s created some confusion for the prosecutor’s office staff, but it may help smooth waters in that Lynne is Caucasian and Lyn is Japanese. …

…ATTORNEY Todd Rothbard is a frequent Honolulu visitor who loves good hamburgers. He often visits Teddy’s Bigger Burgers here and enjoys them so much that he and another burger lover, Wes Case, opened a Teddy’s franchise in Woodinville, Wash., near Seattle. Todd stays at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and makes sure he is there for Easter to portray the Easter Bunny for kids. The fit, slender lawyer leads healthful walks to the Kahala Hotel and back to the Village daily, a total of 11.2 miles. He sometimes conducts the walk twice a day for locals and guests. That’s how he works off the burgers and fine steaks he also loves. … I’m quite a burger lover myself. Ruth’s Chris and Romano’s owner Randy Schoch, when he was in town late last month, recalled how I used to enjoy the delicious $6 burgers at the fancy Black Orchid many years ago. Randy and Tom Selleck were Black Orchid owners. The burgers had to be delicious to charge $6 for them in those days. I get my favorite burgers today at Stage, Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room and Murphy’s. I wish they were $6. … Randy’s Ruth’s Chris at Waikiki Beach Walk has been honored as the recipient of the "Franchise Leadership Team of the Year" Award from corporate headquarters. Director of operations at Waikiki is Jay Kaneshiro, and executive chef is Leighton Miyakawa. …

…DON AND MARION Murphy were honored Sunday night at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii’s annual fundraising gala at the Sheraton Waikiki. For more than 20 years, Don and Marion, of Murphy’s Bar & Grill, have supported Hawaii’s Ronald McDonald House by organizing and hosting the annual Christmas toy drive and holiday celebration. …

…SATAN himself appeared Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki. Actually, it was singer Jamie Offenbach, a frequent guest artist on the Hawaii Opera Theatre stage, who was flown in to headline opera entertainment for the evening. The performance by the bass was a hint of things to come for the 2011 HOT season, when he will be back for his debut role of Satan (Mephistopheles) in "Faust" to open the season Jan. 28. Singer Anita Hall and Nueva Vida filled the dance floor at the ball. …

…FUN-RAISING DIVA Cherye Pierce has agreed to chair the April 16 (and maybe final) ConTempo for the Contemporary Museum, which is in the process of merging with the Honolulu Academy of Arts. The event will be held at the new Waikiki Edition. Neiman Marcus’ Al Tomonari said Neiman will host the preview party April 5. Cherye was chair for TCM’s first ConTempo, held almost two decades ago.
