Thomas S. Monson, worldwide president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attended the rededication ceremony of the newly renovated Laie Hawaii Temple on Sunday.

At the service, Monson spoke with 95-year-old Abigail Kailimai from the Big Island, who has attended all three openings of the Laie temple, including those in 1919 and 1978, LDS spokesman Jack Hoag said.

Last Saturday, 2,000 Mormon youth from Kauai and Oahu presented a historical show at the Cannon Activities Center on the Brigham Young University-Hawaii campus, featuring hula, contemporary, swing, stomp, Polynesian and interpretive Asian dances.

Following extensive renovations, 50,000 people toured the temple during the open house from Oct. 22 to Nov. 13.
