Pedestrian critically injured in lot

A 51-year-old woman was in critical condition at the Queen’s Medical Center last night after she was hit by a car at the parking lot of the Kaheka Street Don Quijote store around 4:38 p.m.

The victim, of Honolulu, was hit and knocked over by a black Ford Mustang driven by an 18-year-old man, also of Honolulu, said acting Lt. Allan Vegas, of the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.

Initial indications were that the woman’s more serious injuries were caused by the fall because she hit her head on the asphalt, Vegas said.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken in critical condition to a nearby trauma center, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services.

The driver appeared to have been dropping off a relative at the bustling department store.
