Heavy rains Friday night caused a sewer manhole at the Kaneohe Pre-Treatment Plant to overflow and discharge sewage into Kaneohe Stream, the state Department of Health said.

The amount of discharge was estimated at more than 1,000 gallons.

Officials posted warning signs due to a previous spill discharging in that area.

The public is advised to stay out of waters fronting Kaneohe Beach Park and Waikalua Pond.
