Wahine lose in Idaho

The Hawaii women’s basketball team remained winless in Western Athletic Conference play after a 72-48 loss to Idaho at the Cowan Spectrum in Moscow, Idaho, last night.

Abysmal shooting from the field (27.5 percent), the free-throw line (40 percent) and on 3-pointers (11.8 percent) kept the Rainbow Wahine tied with San Jose State for last in the WAC at 0-3.

Freshman forward Kamilah Jackson was the only bright spot for UH (6-10 overall) with 16 points and 17 rebounds. No other Wahine scored more than six points in a disappointing performance following an overtime home loss to conference title contender Louisiana Tech last week.

A 51-40 UH rebounding advantage wasn’t enough to undo the poor offensive execution. Idaho led by nine at halftime and outscored UH by 15 in the second half.

Conversely, five Vandals scored in double figures as Idaho nailed 10 3-pointers.

The Wahine, who haven’t won on the road this season, dropped their 13th straight WAC road game going back to 2008-09. Nine of those are under second-year coach Dana-Takahara-Dias.

UH continues its difficult stretch of five straight road games tomorrow at Boise State.
