A loss prevention agent at a Pupukea supermarket was stabbed with a broken bottle last night while trying to detain a 31-year-old man who had allegedly stolen merchandise, police said today.

The man allegedly concealed merchandise and then walked outside the store, where he was confronted by the loss prevention agent around 9 p.m. last night, police said.

During the struggle, the man broke a bottle that he allegedly used to stab the loss prevention agent in the leg, police said.

When the store manager tried to help, the man threatened the manager with the broken bottle, police said.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree robbery and first-degree terroristic threatening.
