A man convicted of robbery at a Maalaea park on Maui in November 2009 has been sentenced to a year in prison.

Circuit Judge Joseph Caridoza sentenced Kevin Lifoifoi, 27, of Kahului on Thursday and placed him on five years’ probation, the Maui News said. Lifoifoi was also ordered to pay $5,264 in restitution, with the cost to be shared by others involved.

Before midnight on Nov. 5, 2009, Jerome Metcalfe, 50, was at Haycraft Park with his brother and reported being hit and kicked by three men who allegedly stole $125 from him. Metcalfe suffered contusions, a fractured right finger and fractured ribs.
