The wholesale changes to the Pro Bowl roster created by Green Bay and Pittsburgh advancing to the Super Bowl were addressed yesterday by National Football League officials.

Kansas City added two more players to the NFL all-star game to run that team’s total to six. Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali and rookie safety Eric Berry joined running back Jamaal Charles, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, guard Brian Waters and quarterback Matt Cassel. Cassel was added last week when New England’s Tom Brady had surgery performed on his injured foot.

Hali replaced Steelers linebacker James Harrison. Hali had 50 tackles for the season and four forced fumbles. Berry steps in for Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu. Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield will replace Green Bay defensive back Tramon Williams. Winfield is the lone Viking on the NFC team after defensive tackle Kevin WIlliams, picked as an injury replacement, backed out because his wife is expecting a baby.

Arizona Cardinals tackle Darnell Dockett will take Kevin WIlliams’ place in this Sunday’s Pro Bowl that will kick off at 2 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

Wideout Larry Fitzgerald also will represent Arizona, replacing Packers receiver Greg Jennings. This is Fitzgerald’s fifth Pro Bowl appearance.

Washington Redskins linebackers London Fletcher and Brian Orakpo are taking over for injured Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher and Green Bay’s Clay Matthews, respectively. Orakpo led Washington with 8.5 sacks. This is Fletcher’s second Pro Bowl appearance.

Atlanta cornerback Brent Grimes will play for the Packers’ Charles Woodson, and Tampa Bay offensive tackle Donald Penn replaces Green Bay’s Chad Clifton.

Urlacher isn’t the only Bears linebacker electing to sit this one out after Sunday’s tough defeat in the NFC championship game. Lance Briggs opted not to come to Honolulu as well, clearing the way for Carolina’s Jon Beason to take his place.

Cleveland center Alex Mack will step in for the New York Jets’ Nick Mangold, who was injured in Sunday’s AFC championship game won by Pittsburgh. Backing up Mack is Indianapolis center Jeff Saturday, who is replacing Pittsburgh’s Maurkice Pouncey.

Tickets are still available for Sunday’s matchup that will be televised nationally on Fox (KHNL in Hawaii). They can be purchased at the stadium or through Ticketmaster.
