An 81-year-old Kauai woman remains hospitalized following a two car crash on the Kaumualii Highway near Knudsen Gap at Poipu.

Esther Richman, of Koloa, is in fair condition in Wilcox Hospital  today after the gray Toyota Camry she was driving at 10:46 a.m. yesterday near mile marker six on Kaumualii Highway crossed the centerline and crashed into a westbound Mazda pick-up truck driven by Edwin Pickop, 59, of Lihue, county officials said.

Both were taken to Wilcox Hospital by ambulance. Pickop was treated and released yesterday afternoon. 

There were no passengers in either vehicle. Police are investigating the accident.
