WOLFGANG’S STEAKHOUSE in the Royal Hawaiian Center was the Pro Bowl Trophy Host Jan. 25 to 29. Steakhouse owner Wolfgang Zwiener of New York delivered the trophy, designed and manufactured by Tiffany, to the Waikiki steakhouse accompanied by Pro Bowl cheerleaders. More than 1,000 people streamed through the restaurant during the week to view the trophy and be photographed next to the prize. The Wolfgang management is happy to report that about half of them stayed for dinner or cocktails. The NFC beat the AFC in the fun game, 55-41. Now that Pro Bowl activity is over, Wolfgang’s is gearing up, or should we say bearing down, for Valentine’s Day Feb. 14. The special is a four-course porterhouse dinner for two for $99.95. A Wolfgang teddy bear is part of the dinner, while they last. They ran out of bears last year. …

FOR THOSE who like to get up close and personal with former NFL stars, Ruth’s Chris Steak House on Waikiki Beach Walk was the place to be last Saturday night. Guest bartenders included running back Christian Okoye, called the "Nigerian Nightmare," defensive tackle La’Roi Glover and linebacker John Olenchalk. It was a benefit for the Christian Okoye Foundation, which provides education through sports and mentorship programs. A minigolf event at Mid-Pac last Friday was part of the Okoye events. …

ALOHA DANNO: "We gave Jimmy MacArthur a Hawaiian send-off" Sunday at the Hawaii Theater, said emcee Jimmy Borges, a close friend of MacArthur and his wife, H.B. The program began and ended with Michael Pili Pang‘s hula halau. Jimmy sang "Our Love is Here to Stay," Jordan Segundo did "To Where You Are" and Mary Gutzi sang "What I Did for Love." There was much film featuring MacArthur, who died Oct. 28 at age 72. …

SOME 40 former Honolulu employees of TGI Fridays Corp. held a reunion here. TGIF bartenders, servers and staffers began arriving the week of Jan. 12 from Virginia, Boston, Florida, Texas and California. Local organizers and "survivors" included Joe Leineweber, of Hardware Hawaii Commercial Sales; Blanche Johnson, of GEBCO Hawaii, who produced and donated all the banners, ID badges and graphics; Liz Lee, now a third-grade teacher at Heeia Elementary; Ricci Keltz, the third female firefighter hired by the Honolulu Fire Department, and Karen Spellmeyer, an escrow manager with First Hawaii Title Corp. A sunset event at Gordon Biersch, set up by GM Lori Ho; a picnic at Waimanalo Bay Beach Park; and a Sunday brunch at the Outrigger Canoe Club, arranged by Liz Ventura, were held. Then it was off to surfing and the finals of the Sony Open. …

THE U.S. POLO Association, the sport’s national governing body, has named Maui’s Danielle Travis, 23, now based in Fort Worth, Texas, as one of 12 new members for Team USPA. The organization established the team in 2009 to grow and sustain polo by identifying talented young American players and providing growth opportunities. …
