Rainbow Wahine defeat Idaho 72-60

The Hawaii women’s basketball team significantly improved its chances of qualifying for the Western Athletic Conference tournament with a 72-60 defeat of Idaho tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH (8-15, 2-8 WAC) won consecutive games drew even with San Jose State for eighth place. The last-place (ninth) team in the league fails to qualify for the WAC tourney.

Fourth-place Idaho dropped to 12-9 overall and 5-4 in WAC play and couldn’t get the season sweep on UH after winning 72-48 in Moscow, Idaho, last month.

Freshman wing Shawna Kuehu led the Rainbow Wahine with 15 points, while freshman forward Kamilah Jackson added 12 points.

After trailing for the first 30 minutes, the Wahine seized control of the game with a 24-4 run to win going away.
