Paliku Theatre and local theater legend Ron Bright are all you need to know about "My Name Is Rumpelstiltskin," a modern revision of the classic fairy tale, playing at Tom Holowach’s beautiful Windward side theater. Holowach presents a child-friendly production at Paliku each spring — Bright brings it to life as the show’s director with an assist from set and lighting designer Lloyd "Sandy" Riford and costumer Evette Tanouye Allerdings.

Levi Oliveira stars in the title role as a wizard named Rumpelstiltskin who saves a woman’s life by spinning straw into gold in exchange for her promise to give him her firstborn child. Nai’a Aguirre plays the woman, and Jaime Rodriguez portrays the handsome prince who marries her.

The one-hour show is intended for children ages 4 through 10.

Previous shows in Holowach’s children’s theater series have included imaginatively staged productions of "You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown," "Charlotte’s Web," "The Wind in the Willows" and "The Velveteen Rabbit." That’s reason enough not to sleep on this one.
