Police find assault case after stopping a vehicle in Mililani

Police arrested a 35-year-old man in Mililani today after he was accused during a traffic stop of beating his wife.

According to police, officers pulled over a vehicle for excessive speeding and then observed the driver and passenger switching seats. When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed a woman with injuries to her face and were told that her husband, the male in the vehicle, had beaten her. The police report did not specify which of two was in the driver’s seat at the time of the stop.

The case was initially classified as abuse of a household family member, but later amended to second-degree assault. The suspect also faces charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and driving without a license.
