Police seek 4 liquor store robbers

CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are asking for the public’s help in finding four males who robbed a Kalihi liquor store and assaulted its owner at about 10:35 p.m. Jan. 27.

The four entered Par 3 Liquor Store at 1311 N. King St., took beer from the cooler and were leaving when the owner confronted them and was assaulted, police said.

One robber is described as 18 to 20 years old, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 to 140 pounds with black hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, plaid black-and-white shorts and a light blue baseball cap.

A second robber is described as 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds with black hair also in a ponytail, a beard, mustache and distinctive sideburns. He was wearing a purple shirt and black shorts.

A third robber is described as 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds with black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, plaid black-and-white shorts and a black beanie.

A fourth robber is described as 15 to 17 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 to 140 pounds with black hair in an afro. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, plaid black-and-white shorts and a head wrap.

Man found floating in ocean dies

A 53-year-old man died Sunday after being pulled from the ocean in Waikiki.

The man was spotted floating in the waters off Coconut Avenue by passersby, who pulled him to shore and performed CPR. Emergency Medical Services personnel, assisted by a Honolulu firefighter, took the man to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Motorcycle rider killed in crash ID’d

Big Island police yesterday identified a 31-year-old motorcyclist who died in a crash Friday as Brett H. Seltmann of Kailua-Kona.

Police said Seltmann was speeding and lost control of his motorcycle just before 2 p.m. Friday when it crashed two-tenths of a mile west of the 37-mile marker on Palani Road in Kailua-Kona.

Seltmann was operating a 2005 Suzuki 600 GSXR motorcycle and heading east on Palani Road when he ran off the right side of the road and crashed, police said.

Fire rescue personnel transported him to Kona Community Hospital, where he died at 3:37 p.m. Friday.

It was the fifth Big Island traffic fatality this year, compared with six at this time last year.

Police were awaiting results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
