Students were evacuated from Kauai High School today because vandals left behind messages that bombs had been planted in school buildings.

School officials notified the Kauai Police Department about 6:50 a.m. about heavy graffiti and tampered locks to various buildings. Some of the graffiti mentioned placement of bombs, according to a news release by the Kauai Police Department.

About 1,200 students were evacuated to the gymnasium. Twenty police officers searched the campus but there were no bombs or explosives found, said Kauai Complex Superintendent William Arakaki in the news release.

Normal operations resumed at 10:41 a.m.

No arrests have been made.
