5. MAKANA ROCKS MORIMOTO The open-air tent was filled to capacity when Makana, center, played a late-evening one-nighter Feb. 10 at Morimoto Waikiki. High-impact percussionist Gerardo Velez, left, provided the rhythmic foundation for an eclectic set of Hawaiian, rock and world music. 4. KIDS MEET QUEEN AT PALIKU Siblings Leihala and Kaimana Dutertre met "RumplestiItskin" cast member Jocelyn Ishihara (Queen) after the opening performance Feb. 12 at Paliku Theatre. The colorful child-friendly revision of the classic fairy tale closes today with a final performance at 2 p.m. Call 235-7310.

2. A VALENTINE'S DIAMOND A 13.36-carat, emerald-cut diamond valued at $2 million was the center of attention when James Schaefer, managing director of Harry Winston Hawaii, right, hosted a wall-to-wall "Pre-Valentine's Day Cocktail Party" Feb. 11 at Harry Winston Ala Moana. Party guest John Geppert, vice president of Tiffany's Hawaii, and jewelry specialist Kayo Miyasaki admired the ring as it was modeled briefly by Schaefer's wife, Winnie.
