Two men charged with illegal hunting on state land on Big Island
Five men and a girl were illegally hunting on state property over the weekend, and two of the men have been charged, Big Island police said.
Kona officers responded to a report of a gunshot near Puulani Ranch subdivision about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers determined the men and girl had been hunting.
Eric Kennel, 21, of Puuanahulu, was charged with hunting violations and trespassing. Max Simon, 20, of Kailua Kona, was charged with trespassing. A third man was arrested, but released pending investigation.
