Big Isle police warn of mail thefts in Puna

Since last month, someone has been prying open mailboxes and removing mail in rural Puna subdivisions, Big Island police said.

Police ask the public to check their mailboxes for damage and report any suspicious activity.

It is a federal crime to remove or tamper with another person’s mail.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Keaau Police Station at 966-5835, or the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
