Kauai under flash flood warning until 6:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Kauai until 6:45 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m., a gauge at the Hanalei River showed a rapid rise in water level to exceed seven feet, the weather service said. This may force the closing of Kuhio Highwat at the bridge, the weather service said.

Areas subject to the warning include Hanalei, Princeville and Haena.

The warning was issued at 3:46 p.m. The warning may be extended, the weather service said.
