Workshop planned for new ADA design standards
The state Disability and Communication Access Board plans to hold a workshop in Honolulu this month on new design standards required under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The day-and-a-half training on March 23-24 is due to cover updated accessibility guidelines, including those rules on accessible routes, plumbing, special rooms and spaces, and recreation facilities.
U.S. Access Board public affairs coordinator David Yanchulis, who has helped make guidelines for buildings, facilities and transit vehicles, is due to conduct the training.
The state Department of Health said registration forms are available online at: www.hawaii.gov/health/dcab. Registration closes on March 15.
