Beachgoers ignore lifeguards and enter water despite closures
Oahu beaches remained closed to the public until further notice because of the tsunami, said the city’s Ocean Safety Division administrator Ralph Goto.
“It’s still not completely over,” Goto said at 10:54 a.m. today.
He said there were still tidal surges and currents, posing a danger to people.
Lifeguards said thousands of visitors were entering the ocean, despite warnings.
