Construction of Big Island fire station to begin by late summer
Construction of the long-promised Makalei Fire Station should begin by late summer, the Hawaii Tribune Herald reports.
Maryl KPRS Hawaii Joint Venture’s bid of $6.18 million — about $2.9 million less than what officials expected — was the lowest of 13 proposals, Assistant Chief Ralph Yawata said during a county Fire Commission’s meeting last week in Kailua-Kona.
