Alleged thief held after confrontation with victim

A Waikiki man was arrested last night after a man he allegedly stole from spotted and confronted him on the street a few hours later.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, said another man grabbed cash from him and fled on foot at the Kalakaua-Kaiulani avenues intersection about 7:30 p.m.

At about 10:38 p.m., the victim spotted the suspect on the street and confronted him. The suspect struck the victim, but was arrested shortly thereafter by police.

The suspect is being held pending charges of second-degree theft and third-degree assault.
