Changing weather systems will drive radiation released from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant inland on March 25 and 26, Austria’s Meteorological and Geophysics Center reported today, citing a UN group’s data.

Wind is currently carrying radioactive cesium and iodine nuclides over the Pacific Ocean. Radiation detection instruments have found fallout as far away as Iceland, though in trace amounts that don’t threaten human health, the center said.

The Meteorological and Geophysics Center made the forecast on its website using radionuclide data from the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
