A MUSICAL EVENING FOR MANOA | 5. Laurence Paxton, chairman of the University of Hawaii-Manoa Music Department, center, was the emcee of "A Musical Evening," a fundraiser for the Music Department, hosted by Carolyn Berry, front right, March 16 at her East Honolulu residence. The Music Department faculty provided a diverse program of entertainment -- Chinese classical, European classical, Broadway and opera -- that Paxton capped with "Till I Hear You Sing" from the upcoming Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Love Never Dies." UH supporter Rick Piper, left, joined UHM Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw and Thomas Bingham, dean of the College of Arts & Humanities, right, as they talked with Paxton and Berry after the program.
