CLIF Kid awarding cash for backyard games

CLIF Kid, a California company which makes organic snacks for kids, has launched the Backyard Game of the Year contest. The online contest’s goal is to encourage kids ages 6 through 12 to use their imagination and reconnect with outdoor playtime. A panel of play experts will select five finalists, who will be flown with one parent each to New York City to compete in playoffs in late August. The winner receives $10,000, while the four runners-up each win $1,000. Finalists will receive a bicycle and helmet. Contest entries must describe a game for at least two kids and use common play items, such as balls, hula hoops, beanbags and, most importantly, imagination. Entries can be submitted until June 30 at www.clifkidbackyardgame.com.

K-Fed and ex-Wahine show off baby bump

Kevin Federline, whose biggest claim to fame is that he’s Britney Spears’ ex, is about to become a father for the fifth time — and this time with former University of Hawaii Wahine volleyball player Victoria Prince, according to the latest issue of People Magazine.

The current issue (April 18, page 24) even features a photo of the two under the headline “Kevin Federline Debuts Girlfriend’s Baby Bump.”

The couple told People that the baby is due this summer. Prince is 28. Federline, a rapper and dancer, is 33.

According to People, the couple has been seen bowling, shopping and hanging out at nightclubs. Prince is also reported to have spent time with Federline’s children.

Hawaii volleyball fans will remember Prince as the Wahine’s former middle blocker who led them in her senior season in the fall of 2005. She was a two-time All-American.

She started dating Federline in 2008, according to former Wahine assistant coach Ryan Tsuji, who shared details at the time with Honolulu media sources. Tsuji said Prince met Federline through a mutual friend.

At the time, Prince was playing on the pro beach tour, lived in Beverly Hills and worked for Fox Sports Net in marketing, he said.

There’s no word of wedding plans, but People reported that last year Federline told Ryan Seacrest that was he wasn’t opposed to the idea.

“Would I get married again? Definitely,” he told Seacrest, according to People. “Anything is possible. Right now, I really am happy. Victoria’s a great person. She’s an incredible person.”
