Enjoy the Taste of Waimea while honoring U.S. forces

Waimea, Kauai » The third annual Taste of Wai­mea is set for 5-7 p.m. May 12 on the Plantation Lawn at Aston Wai­mea Plantation Cottages.

The event features pupu and spirits and Hawaiian music, including a special musical performance by the Makaha Sons.

The event will honor all U.S. armed forces with special recognition going to Kauai’s Pacific Missile Range Facility, National Guard stationed in Hana­pepe and Kauai veterans.

Taste of Waimea is sponsored by Aston Hotels & Resorts and the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.

Campground’s restrooms are shuttered for upgrades

Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii » Rest­rooms at Nama­kani­paio Campground in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are closed for renovation and will reopen in mid-July. Three portable rest­rooms are in place in the meantime.

A park maintenance team is upgrading the facilities for people with disabilities, as outlined in Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
