‘Pirates’ to invade Pearlridge Center for day of fun

Arrr, me hearties, me mateys, lasses and scallywags! It be time fer all ta git thee o’er ta Pearlridge Center fer some swashbucklin’ good times.

Aye, thar be booty galore during "Sea Rovers & Makeovers," 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow in anticipation o’ that May 20 great, grand opening o’ "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," starrin’ that gentleman o’ fortune Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.

Aye, ye can’t be sailin’ in ta da screenins’ lookin’ like one big bunch o’ lily-livered landlubbers! Arrr ta that! Them Sephora experts will have ye scurvy dogs lookin’ like one o’ us in no time at all!

In proper English, Uptown landlubbers will be able to enjoy pirate makeup demonstrations at noon at Sephora. If dressing up for film openings is not your thing, pick up tips on summer makeup trends from Stila. There will also be haircuts from Mastercuts and makeup consultations and makeovers from M.A.C and Merle Norman.

At Downtown, activities for kids include the making of whale hats and marine-heritage buttons with NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, plus pirate- and ocean-themed face painting and a boat display by the Waianae Youth Sailing Program.

Other activities include photo opportunities with life-size cutouts of Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones, as well as movie-poster signing with extras from "Pirates of the Caribbean," which was filmed in Hawaii. Enter to win Pirate’s Booty, which includes four tickets to a special screening of the movie, dinner for four at Monterey Bay Canners and $400 in Pearlridge Center gift certificates.

Shoppers who spend $75 or more that day will receive a free manicure set or Pirate’s Pack of chocolate coins and other booty. A treasure map available at the center will lead customers to special deals at more than 25 merchants throughout the mall.
