Honolulu firefighters, using the fire department helicopter, retrieved the body an adult male this morning from a rocky ledge near the Makapuu Lighthouse.

The body was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and cause of death,

Officials were trying to determine whether the body may be connected to a missing person case. Police and firefighters were looking for a man last night whose van was found in the parking lot leading to the Makapuu Lighthouse.

Firefighters searched the makai side of Kalanianole Highway near the lighthouse and Sea Life Park from about 9 p.m. until midnight last night.
