A 32-year-old Punchbowl man who allegedly choked his 16-year-old stepson to the point of unconsciousness turned himself in to police Monday night and was arrested for suspected felony abuse of a household member.

Police said the man and his stepson got into an argument at their Prospect Street home at about 7:20 p.m. The boy’s mother intervened when the man choked his stepson, police said. The man fled the scene before police arrived and turned himself in to the main police station at about 11 p.m.
