A woman who allegedly stabbed the father of her 5-month-old child in Kailua has been charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Melissann R. Rosa, 20, of Waimanalo, was being held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post $50,000 bail. She was charged Thursday.

The stabbing happened about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at Kailua District Park.

Police arrived to find a man applying pressure to a stab wound on the left side of an 18-year-old man lying on his back, according to court documents.

The officer noticed a woman in a purple tank top and blue jeans, pacing in the area watching the wounded man.

A third man told officers that he saw the couple arguing when the 18-year-old man told the woman, “come on … stab me,” according to court documents.

The woman stabbed the man once in the left side of his chest, then threw the knife on the man, the witness said.

According to court documents, the victim lost a lot of blood and was going in and out of consciousness. He could not identify his attacker to officers at the scene.

Paramedics took him to the hospital in critical condition.

During a search of Rosa, police found a small folding knife in the front pocket of her jeans, the documents said. Police arrested her at the scene.

The woman and the victim have been in a relationship since September 2009 and have a 5-month-old child, the documents say.
