1 paddle, 2 paddle

Join legendary surfer Gerry Lopez for some stand-up paddling fun at the “Battle of the Paddle” this weekend in Waikiki. The Pipeline Masters champ is hosting a two-day, family-friendly event featuring free clinics and demos.

There will be races for everyone, from beginners to elite international competitors, who will compete for prizes totaling $25,000. Race fees range from $65 to $160, and competitors can register at the beach.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow at Duke Kahanamoku Beach at Fort DeRussy Beach Park, at the end of Kalia Road (not behind the Duke statue). For information, visit battleofthepaddle.com.
