Lagoon mishap sends boy to hospital

A boy younger than 10 years old inhaled water into his lungs at Ko Olina’s lagoon No. 4 Sunday morning but was breathing and conscious when he was taken to a hospital, Honolulu Fire Capt. Earle Kealoha said.

The boy apparently waded into water over his head and began flailing just before 11 a.m., Kealoha said.

Family members had pulled the boy to shore by the time firefighters arrived.

Doctor calls HPD over child’s injuries

Police opened an investigation of possible first-degree assault after an 8-year-old boy was taken to a hospital Saturday with suspicious injuries.

According to police, the family took the child to the Queen’s Medical Center saying that he had injured himself during a fall in the bathroom. However, the attending physician found the injuries were not consistent with a fall, and the police were called.

No suspects have been identified in the case.
