Driver held in attempted murder case
Police arrested a 57-year-old Waianae man Sunday after he allegedly tried to run over another man on a Makaha beach.
According to police, the man was operating a vehicle in a heavily populated area of the public beach. When the victim, a 24-year-old man, attempted to signal to the driver to slow down, the suspect disregarded the warning and drove his vehicle toward the other man, forcing him to jump to the side of the road to avoid being hit.
Police were able to locate the suspect and follow him home, where they arrested him for second-degree attempted murder and reckless driving.
