Thunderstorms prompt flash flood advisory for Oahu
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood advisory for Oahu because of thunderstorms over east and central Oahu.
Forecasters say radar showed heavy rain over Wahiawa and Mililani and a thunderstorm offshore of Kaneohe at about 6 a.m. moving west at about 15 miles per hour.
Rain was falling at a rate of about an inch and hour, forecasters said.
Other locations in the advisory include, Kahuku, Pearl City, Iroquois Point, Waipio, Waikele, Ewa Beach, Waipahu, Turtle Bay, Mililani, Wahiawa, Kunia, Whitmore Village, Ewa, Pupukea, Kapolei, Schofield Barracks, Makakilo, Barbers Point, Haleiwa, Waialua, Nanakuli, Maili, Waianae, Mokuleia, Makaha, Makua Valley and Kaena Point.
The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m.
