    A fire on 91-000 block of Hanapuoli Circle burned a 3-story townhouse this morning.

One man was injured trying to save a cat from a fire that destroyed a townhouse unit in the Ewa Beach Sun Rise complex this morning.

The fire department arrived at 9:40 a.m. to fight the blaze in the 91-000 block of Hanapouli Circle.

Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman, said that the two adults who live in the unit had gotten out safely. However, the adult male was injured when he went back into the unit to rescue a cat which was killed in the blaze.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital. The condition of the victim was not immediately available.

The three-story structure was heavily damaged.

There also was exterior damage to the exterior of an adjoining unit in the 10-unit complex. Maintenance workers helped free two men who were trapped on the third floor when the fire broke out before firefighters arrive.

The fire was brought under control at 9:59 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There was no immediate estimate of damage.
