Arsonist caused fire at foreclosed Pearl City duplex, investigators find

A Honolulu Fire Department investigator has determined that the Sunday fire at an abandoned Pearl City duplex was caused by arson and has turned the case over to the Honolulu Police Department for further investigation, Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig said today.

The fire on Luehu Street caused $250,000 damage to the structure, Honolulu Fire Capt. Robert Main said. The duplex had no contents, was abandoned and in foreclosure, he said.

The fire was reported at 7:59 a.m. Sunday and firefighters were on the scene five minutes later, he said. They had the blaze under control 10 minutes later, Main said.
