Metcalf Street reopened after downed utility pole repaired
Metcalf Street between Dole Street and Wilder Avenue reopened around noon today after being closed for the morning while crews worked on a utility pole that was knocked over in a traffic accident.
Hawaiian Telcom said the pole had been encased in cement on the sidewalk, so the company’s crew had to break up the cement to remove the damaged pole, replace it with a new one, and reattached the overhead cables.
The cables remained intact so service was not affected, the company said.
The accident occurred before 5:30 a.m. and the street was closed until about noon.
