Students earn diplomas through at-risk youth program
About 70 students have earned high school diplomas through a Honolulu program for at-risk youth.
Honolulu Community Action Program says the students are to receive diplomas after overcoming obstacles such as homelessness, teen pregnancy, drug addiction, abuse and incarceration.
A graduation ceremony and celebration is planned for Wednesday evening at Ala Moana Beach Park.
The youth services program is in its 11th year providing young people ages 16 to 21 with a second chance at high school graduation because they dropped out, were expelled or didn’t have enough credits.
