An injured hiker was rescued by emergency responders after she fell or jumped into a pool below Maunawili Falls Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Honolulu Fire Department’s Olomana station hiked more than a mile to locate the woman. The HFD  helicopter then picked up the woman via a basket stretcher about 2:30 p.m. and flew her to Maunawili District Park where paramedics took her to the hospital, said Capt. Terry Seelig, HFD spokesman.

The woman, in her 40s, was taken from the park to a nearby hospital in serious condition, a spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services said.
