Two deputy directors named to state departments

Gov. Neil Abercrombie is appointing new deputy directors to the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and the Department of Accounting and General Services.

Abercrombie on Monday named Michelle Kauhane as deputy to the chairman for the Hawaiian Homes Commission, and Jan Gouveia as deputy director for the Department of Accounting and General Services.

The Abercrombie administration says in a statement that all three leaders of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands are either current or former Hawaiian homestead residents.

Kauhane replaces retiring DHHL Deputy Director Bobby Hall.

Gouveia is moving from her position as deputy director for administration for the Department of Transportation. She replaces Ryan Okahara, who left the Department of Accounting and General Services June 3 to join the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
